EPW - Eardley Norton, London, quarter-hour repeater, 58mm, 16K gold or better (tested, some surfaces exhibiting very slow fade of 18K solution on stone, some surfaces exhibiting no fade of 18K solution on stone) OF original pair cases, outer case marked with chevron hallmark indicative of 16K or better content, signed gilt spring-loaded cuvette, white enamel dial, KWKS, likely verge escapement though not uncased to confirm, gilt mvt with pierced and foliate scrolled balance cock with grotesque mask at neck and large ruby endstone, s#3111 and s#FG5787 within cases. Gross weight of assembled watch 92.8 dwt (144.4 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, good repeat function and tone, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, excellent gilt tone, few fine scratches to plates and regulator disk; dial with patched edge chips at 1 and 1:30, short scratch left of center, short fine scratch inside 4, few scattered small to very small edge flakes; excellent hands, hour with some marring of center hub; outer case shows little wear, scattered dings and shallow denting to rear, mild ding to bezel at 10:30, button latch good; inner case shows little wear, protruding ding at lower-left rear shoulder, few small nicks, no dents, cuvette with a tendency to spring open as outer lid is being closed, cuvette with directional arrow drawn on its surface in paint or ink; bow pivots freely; good domed glass crystal.
